Venice Beach Day, LA

While we try and do little weekend getaways here and there to reconnect and recharge throughout the year, the majority of our travels are due to what Nathan does for a living. So when we drive/fly somewhere early before an event for some extra “us” time and a mini vacay, there’s nothing quite like it! No schedule. No plans to meet anyone. Just together-ness. All the yes! Our last vacation was this past December for our first cruise experience during my winter break from work the week before Christmas (…and we’re pretty much waiting for the right time to plan our next one!).

But now vacation is over, and it’s back to the grind! Well, for Nathan. I’m actually sitting in our hotel bed blogging this right now, so it’s pretty fantastic LOLOL. We will be staying in Los Angeles for a few more days this week, and then we both head home! One more week until my Fall classes begin. Three more weeks until the school year starts, and my life summer is officially over. Until then, I’m soaking up the rest, connecting with friends and family, and picking up blogging again.

One of the days we decided to venture to Venice Beach for the day. We explored the shops, ate greasy food, biked, and went to see the Venice Beach Canals. While it was in the 80’s with a cool breeze, the ocean was freezing! I was slightly bummed because I love getting in the water, but not enough to get a cold (yes, getting chilly does that to me!!!)

For our adventurous beach day, I opted for some light-washed distressed denim shorts (I’ve LIVED in these all summer), a lacy feminine tank, and sneakers paired with none-other than a LA hat. Yes, we were totttttttallllly doing the touristy thing, but I didn’t want to be too obvious about it haha! This outfit was both functional and perfect in the heat. My backpack was great for keeping my hands free for hand-holding and keeping my frozen lemonade close by ;). AND it was small enough to fit inside my bike basket when biking (swoon!).

During our time here so far, we have visited Hollywood (and the Griffith Observatory), ate at In-and-Out Burgers (2x), ate at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles, visited Santa Monica (2x), attended Zoe church and Hillsong LA church. Unfortunately, there’s not much time for much else, BUT if we had the time, where else should we go thats top priority?!
